Katara Towers - Qatar

The Katara Towers property in Qatar's coastal city of Lusail is filled with symbolism. The building's architectural design skillfully incorporates the iconic scimitar swords from the national seal into a visually stunning set of towers with symmetrical arches. The design was inspired by the sails of a traditional dhow boat, and the towers feature a unique shape and facade. We were pleased to consult on lighting for one of the luxury hotels, the Fairmont Doha.

Preciosa collaborates with developers, Group for Wooden Industries, and has produced and designed two lighting installations. The first, in the hotel lobby, is inspired by the combination of our Signature Designs and is the longest installation we have ever created, stretching over 57,500 meters. It shines with almost 5,000 hand-blown components, and the shape represents flowing music. Beneath the installation is a piano, completing the musical illusion.

Preciosa engineers used DMX RGBW LED modules to create dynamic elements with the colours red, green, blue, and white. A custom MADRIX control unit was also created so the team can control their own lighting scenes on-site.

The second installation in the ballroom is horizontal and is inspired by water and rain. Our design team chose bubbled glass in both spheres and drops, as well as beads, to create a textural, soft design. More than 7,000 components were created for this installation, which elegantly stretches across the ceiling.

Iconic architecture, iconic design- the Fairmont Doha is emblematic of the creativity and luxury found across the Qatari hospitality scene.
